What happens to Jews who do not believe in J-sus – especially those who never heard about him? What happened to my wonderful Jewish grandmother who never hurt anyone in her entire life? Is she in hell?

In a nutshell, Brown says “yes she is.”

1:10 plays on all those Xian fears of “if you don’t believe in the man-god you’ll burn in hell forever.” Brown goes on to say we need to be saved (from what pray tell?). 1.10 just continues to prey on fear – follow Xianity “or else.”

First he says (page 28):

G-d is both a compassionate and righteous Judge, there are consequences to breaking His commandments.

Now this is a particularly interesting comment by Dr. Brown. He seems to think that there is a commandment to follow J-sus, but Torah tells us just the opposite. Torah tells us that following any false gods or men is breaking some of the most important of all mitzvot – idolatry.

Take this one for example:

Before Me no god was formed, nor will there be one after Me. I, even I, am HaShem, and besides Me there is no Savior.” Isaiah 43:11

Brown is right that there are consequences to breaking G-d's mitzvot – because if one were to follow Brown's advice one would be doing the opposite of what G-d decrees in Torah. It is as if Brown is saying "the law says don't commit incest, but it is OK to have sex with your sibling."

Huh? If you think the example I gave is too extreme, re-read Isaiah 43:11 (above). There is no other god than HaShem. He is the only savior. Don't worship men. Don't follow gods that you "didn't know at Sinai."

Brown can certainly write well, but what he says is the opposite of what Torah teaches.

Right again, Dr. Brown. But then he ignores what Torah tells us are "His means of atonement." Instead he says we should believe that the murder of a man (demi-god?) by some Romans somehow atones even though there is nothing in Torah to support this (and everything in Torah is against it).

All of the ways given in Torah to atone have NOTHING to do with J-sus or the Xian concept of J-sus dying on a cross for their sins.

Brown goes on to repeat that we need the death of J-sus to atone.

Page 32:

All of us have sinned, all of us need a savior, and J-sus alone is that savior. All of us are guilty, all of us have become separated from G-d, and Y- shua alone can wipe away our guilt and bring us into a right relationship with G-d.

He becomes even more blunt a few pages later (page 33)

How then should we view the state of those (both Jews and Gentiles) who have never heard about the Messiah and Savior? We should see them as people about to get on a plae we know will soon crash. .In terms of those who never heard about J-sus we believe that virtually all of them are in a fallen, lost state. . .our responsibility. . .is to tell everyone that there is a judgment, there is a hell. . .and there is one way of escape: J-sus the messiah has paid for our sins.

What happened to that just and righteous G-d that Brown spoke of just a few pages ago? He will expletive deleted you eternally if you don’t believe in the man god.

Some compassionate god.

Some just god.

Some righteous god.

This is what Xianity teaches and Brown parrots it. But is this what the Torah teaches us? Nope. Is this told us in the ‘nach? Again, absolutely not.

We may all sin, but we can save ourselves from sin (see Genesis 4:7 where G-d tells Cain that he can master evil – he himself, not a human sacrifice). No, this is just more “believe in J-sus or go to hell” fear mongering so common among missionaries.

Ergo if Cain can CHOOSE he isn’t “born evil” or “born into sin.”

Read the psalm 24 which speaks of man being given a pure heart. In Genesis we also find out that mankind has an "evil inclination" ("evil in their heart") from their youth, not from birth:

Genesis 8:21 - And the L-rd smelled the pleasant aroma, and the L-rd said to Himself, "I will no longer curse the earth because of man, for the inclination of man's heart is evil from his youth, and I will no longer smite all living things as I have done.

So G-d tells us as early as Genesis 4 that we ourselves can master sin and evil – that we ourselves must take responsibility and atone. Not only are we NOT born into “original sin” there is no other person that can take the blame for your actions.

You and you alone must atone for your sins.

Evil is not external to you – a devil or a taint. Evil is internal to you – it is part of who you are. Evil and good battle inside each of us and we have the power to choose good over evil. We are, with the aid of G-d, our own saviors.

What is sin? Sin is anything that moves you farther away from G-d. Praying through an intermediary (aka J-sus) moves you farther away from G-d. No one can "save you from sin" except you -- since sin moves you farther away from Him, you have the power to move yourself closer to Him.

'See! I give you today (a choice of) a blessing and a curse. The blessing, when you listen to the commandments of G-d your L-rd, which I command you today. The curse, if you do not listen to the commandments of G-d your L-rd, and you deviate from the path which I command you today, in order to follow other gods which you did not know.' (Deut. 11:26-28)

Per Brown we are all sinners who need to be saved by the big daddy god in the sky (who made the whole mess in the first place, or we wouldn’t BE sinners or damned – their god made us, right?). But we have no control. We are helpless. We need to believe in the man-god dying for our rotten souls.

This is most certainly NOT what Torah teaches. Torah teaches that there is no original sin. We are not “born into sin.” We do not need to be saved (saved from what?). The G-d of Torah does not “mess up” and we don’t need fixing.

He created us for a purpose. Yes, we can and do sin – but it is our choice to sin, to not sin – and if and when we do to repent and try to do better next time. We are not babies, not children who are helpless.

And how could a few Romans killing one man with a spear on a wooden cross save all those sinners any way? Is there any hint in Torah or ‘nach that THIS is what G-d wants?

No. Read the Tanach it is the opposite. Start with Psalm 51 which puts the nail in the coffin of 1.10 completely – but read on because there are many more that show the Xian concept of the cruel god who demands the murder of J-sus and the faith in the man-god alone as nowhere planted in the G-d of Israel. If you just read the Tanach it becomes obvious that Dr. brown and missionaries like him are very, very far from the mark:

You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. The sacrifices of G-d are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O G-d, you will not despise. [Psalm 51:16-17]

To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Eternal than sacrifice. [Proverbs 21:3]

Isaiah 53 says

6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to his own way;

This is the nature of atonement, and how we are saved from the consequences of our sins, which is death. Adam ate from a fruit and died, and regardless of how much Adam repented or cried to God, Adam still faced the consequences of sin; death. Adam was not allowed back to the garden by just repentance and faith, nor any amount of good works.

Atonement is ALWAYS an external giving.

Blood Atonement
Lev 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls

Blood atonement IS biblical. The suffering Savior is from Torah.

The reason the temple is destroyed, and Deuteronomy 28 came true (Israel was to be cursed, scattered to all the nations and few in number if they ever rejected Covenant with God), and why the holocaust sadly happened, is because Jews are no longer in a right relationship with God.

Before Christ came, the Jews knew Christ through shadows; the passover, day of atonement, all of the Mosaic Covenant were pictures of the One to come. All these ancient shadows and stories from the past are yet about a present day reality; that is Christ, the Savior, who made final atonement for sin, ushered in everlasting righteousness (Daniel 9:24), and brought both Jew and Gentile to worship the God of Israel (Isaiah 49).

How about Genesis 18? G-d tells Abraham He will forgive Sodom and Gemorahs' sins if He can find 10 righteous men.

RIGHTEOUS MEN. No blood sacrifices -- nowill forgive the sins of Sodom and Gemorah if Abraham can find even 10 righteous men.

You'll find this throughout Torah -- Pharoah asks Moses to pray for G-d to forgive him (not make a sacrifice). Moses goes to Mount Sinai to plead for G-d to forgive Israel's sin of the golden calf (no sacrifices).

Talk about confusing two concepts! Blood atonement is biblical -- but ONLY as it applies to kosher animals sacrificed appropriately per Torah in the Tabernacle or Torah in the proper manner is one thing. And only applicable to certain requirements -- either a cheit (unintentional sin) or asham (specific guilts related to impurity of the Temple), etc. Blood atonement is NOT an end all or be all -- and it doesn't atone for "future sins." (things that haven't happened yet).

Blood atonement is ONE way to atone, not the only way , and not any way at all for serious sins. Read about David and Bathsheva or even about Cain and Abel. Your post is simplistic and insulting to Torah.

Suffering saviors is a another issue (and also not at all biblical). Human beings can't atone for another person's sin. Read Moses. Read David. Read the dang Torah!!!!!

FYI human sacrifice is not only forbidden, it is disgusting to G-d. The suffering servant is in the Tanach (not Torah), but it is not the savior. The only savior is G-d -- who is omnipotent (all powerful) and thus can't suffer.

OK, I just responded to your first post and am more than happy to reply to your total falsehoods in future posts. However, please read the forum rules. Proselytizing is forbidden and so far all you are doing is spouting nonsense without having read one post in the FAQ (all of which toss your posts on their tush).

Take your rant above about Adam and Eve (Chava). It is total nonsense according to the Torah. You are just regurgitating the idea of "original sin" aka Xianity which needs it otherwise you don't need Jsus to be your "perfect sacrifice."

There are different types of sin, even though English uses only one word. The generic Hebrew word for any kind of sin is aveira. The three major types of sin are:

Pesha - An intentional sin; an action committed in deliberate defiance of G-d;

Ovon - This is a sin of lust or uncontrollable emotion. It is a sin done knowingly, but not done to defy G-d;

Cheit - This is an unintentional sin.

Now if Adam commited "original sin" to warrant death, condemning mankind, etc. you'd think it would have to be a pesha, right? Or at least an ovon -- to defy G-d.

Nope. It is a cheit. An unintentional sin. A "missing of the mark." A boo-boo if you will. The word comes from an arrow that misses its target. The result may have ramifications, but the act was not done with malice aforethought.

The story of Adam and Eve (Chava) shows the gulf between Xianity and Judaism. Even at this starting point the two faiths diverge greatly. Original sin is not a Jewish concept. People are not “born into sin” because of the fall of Adam and Chava (Eve). The serpent is not Satan – it is just a serpent.

Xianity NEEDS original sin. Xian theology holds that a sinless J* was part of the heavenly Father's plan from the outset, to redeem mankind. After all, the act of disobedience by Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, the Fall of Man, placed the stain of sin on humanity, one that cannot be removed through a person's own actions.

This opens the way for J*, the perfect sacrificial offering of the future, was born through the impregnation by the Holy Spirit of the virgin, Mary. J* was thus born without the stain of Original Sin, since he was conceived of G-d and not through the customary act of copulation by two sinful humans.

First of all: sex is not “sinful” it is a gift from G-d to “be fruitful and multiply.” Secondly there is no original sin that makes all of mankind tainted so that a human sacrifice (or god-sacrifice) has to come along to redeem us. Man is not born “into” sin.

How do we know that the sin wasn’t that grievous? Because of the Hebrew word used to describe the sin. In Hebrew there are many words for sin, but the big “three” are pasha (a rebellion against G-d), an ovom (a lustful act of passion) and a cheit – an unintentional “missing of the mark.”

Torah tells us that Adam and Chava commited a cheit. A missing of the mark. The word comes from an arrow that misses its target. The result may have ramifications, but the act was not done with malice aforethought.

Further we know that G-d didn't immediately punish Adam and Chava and bar them from the Tree of Life because they disobeyed and ate from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, but He gave them an opportunity to repent and tell Him the truth (after they had eaten and could recognize that it was wrong to disobey). Teshuva – repenting and turning to G-d.

But Adam and then Chava failed to do teshuvah but blamed someone else for their actions. Chava blamed the serpent. Adam blamed Chava. No one said “I’m sorry. I did wrong. Forgive me.”

So was the real sin the eating of the fruit, or the immature finger pointing and refusal to take responsibility that happened after they ate the fruit? The far greater sin is the second one. The whole point is that teshuvah is an essential part of Torah, and thus Torah gives us the opportunity to partake of eternal life (i.e, communion with G-d) even when we sin – but we must take responsibility for our own actions.

Xians say G-d cursed Adam and Chava – to a horribly hard life and to death. This is because of their “fall from grace.” But that is not what Torah says happened. G-d curses the serpent – not Adam and Chava!

“Cursed are you”, arur atah, is not repeated, nor is a synonym used when G-d addresses Chava and Adam.

Instead G-d says arurah ha'adamah, cursed is the earth/ground. This speaks of the earth/ground that Adam will have to work - but G-d does not curse Adam or Chava.

This major point is lost in the Xian concept. G-d does not curse Adam and Chava! Adam and Chava are punished, but they are not cursed. They are told that they will not be "on easy street" because of their transgression - she will have pain in childbirth, and he will have to sweat to earn his bread.

People are not born into sin. People are born with an inclination to evil and may choose between good or evil. Again, this is clearly stated in Torah.

This is re-enforced in Genesis 4:7 when G-d speaks to Cain and tells him that good and evil are his choices and that he (Cain) should choose good. G-d tells Cain that he can master evil.

Our rabbis teach that before Adam and Chava partake of the tree it was easy to tell the difference between good and evil -- it was black and white. If Adam and Chava had waited G-d would have given them permission to eat of the tree (when they were mature enough to understand it -- after Shabbat).

By choosing they gained the knowledge before they had the wisdom to control it. But it is interesting that while the serpent was cursed -- Adam and Chava were not cursed.

God makes it clear that His divine protection would abide with Israel as a nation always, so long as they were obedient in a Covenant relationship with Him.

The holocaust, which was a tragedy, is clearly indicative of the relationship between God and the Jews. God PROMISED to protect them ALWAYS, they are the apple of His eye; unless they reject Him.

However, God promised to never reject them when they are obedient. The suffering servant in Isaiah 53 is obedient to God, and crushed to bring healing to the nations. It says that it PLEASED the Lord to bruise Him; this can not be Israel, certainly not an obedient Israel!

Isaiah 53 speaks about a rejected, suffering servant, who is clearly not Israel. Isaiah says that God would reject Israel shortly thereafter

ISAIAH 54:7 For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.

We have witnessed the time where God and the Jews have experienced a 'forsaken' relationship, and the gathering is happening now. God then promised a New Covenant

This Covenant says that the nations of the Earth would be gathered to the God of Israel through the Son of David. We read in Genesis that the scepter will not depart from Judah until Shiloh arrives, and to Him shall the obedience of the nations be.

This alone has been fulfilled by Jesus Christ; this explains why the Jews were scattered and forsaken of God for the last 2000 years according to prophecy, and why the Gentiles now worship the God of Israel through the Jew who we call Jesus.

Tell me, dear rabbi's, what has God done for the Gentiles in the last 3000 years if Jesus is not the Jewish Messiah? 1354: 12,000 Jews were executed in Toledo.
1374: An epidemic of possession broke out in the lower Rhine region of what is now Germany. People were seen "dancing, jumping and [engaging in] wild raving." This was triggered by enthusiastic revels on St. John's Day - an Christianized version of an ancient Pagan seasonal day of celebration which was still observed by the populace. 1523: Martin Luther distributed his essay "That Jesus Was Born a Jew. " He hoped that large numbers of Jews would convert to Christianity. The charge has some merit; however he was probably typical of most Christians during his era.
1539: A passion play was forbidden in Rome because it prompted violent attacks against the city's Jewish residents. 9

1550: Jews were exiled from Genoa and Venice.
1555-JUL-12: A Roman Catholic Papal bull, "Cum nimis absurdum," required Jews to wear badges, and live in ghettos. They were not allowed to own property outside the ghetto. Living conditions were dreadful: over 3,000 people were forced to live in about 8 acres of land. Women had to wear a yellow veil or scarf; men had to wear a piece of yellow cloth on their hat. 8
1582: Jews were expelled from Holland.
1648-9: Chmielnicki Bogdan led an uprising against Polish rule in the Ukraine. The secondary goal of Bogdan and his followers was to exterminate all Jews in the country. The massacre began with the slaughter of about 6,000 Jews in Nemirov. Other major mass murders occurred in Tulchin, Polonnoye, Volhynia, Bar, Lvov, etc. Jewish records estimate that a total of 100,000 Jews were murdered and 300 communities destroyed.

1806: A French Jesuit Priest, Abbe Barruel, had written a treatise blaming the Masonic Order for the French Revolution. He later issued a letter alleging that Jews, not the Masons were the guilty party. This triggered a belief in an international Jewish conspiracy in Germany, Poland and some other European countries later in the 19th century.
1819: During the late 18th and early 19th centuries, many European Jews lobbied their governments for emancipation. 1858: Edgardo Mortara was kidnapped, at the age of six, from his Jewish family by Roman Catholic officials after they found out that a maid had secretly baptized him. He was not returned to his family but was raised a Catholic. He eventually became a priest.
1873: The term "antisemitism" is first used in a pamphlet by Wilhelm Marr called "Jewry's Victory over Teutonism."
1881: Alexander II of Russia was assassinated by radicals. The Jews were blamed. About 200 individual pogroms against the Jews followed. ("Pogrom" is a Russian word meaning "devastation" or "riot." In Russia, a pogrom was typically a mob riot against Jewish individuals, shops, homes or businesses. They were often supported and even organized by the government.) 1894: Captain Alfred Dreyfus, an officer on the French general staff, was convicted of treason. The evidence against him consisted of a piece of paper from his wastebasket with another person's handwriting, and papers forged by antisemitic officers. He received a life sentence on Devil's Island, off the coast of South America. The French government was aware that a Major Esterhazy was actually guilty. 3 The church, government and army united to suppress the truth. Writer Emile Zola and politician Jean Jaurטs fought for justice and human rights. After 10 years, the French government fell and Drefus was declared totally innocent. The Dreyfus Affair was world-wide news for years. It motivated Journalist Theodor Herzl to write a book in 1896: "The Jewish State: A Modern Solution to the Jewish Question." The book led to the founding of the Zionist movement which fought for a Jewish Homeland. A half century later, the state of Israel was born.
1903: At Easter, government agents organized an anti-Jewish pogrom in Kishinev, Moldova, Russia. The local newspaper published a series of inflammatory articles. A Christian child was discovered murdered and a young Christian woman at the Jewish Hospital committed suicide. Jews were blamed for the deaths. Violence ensured. The 5,000 soldiers in the town did nothing. When the smoke cleared, 49 Jews had been killed, 500 were injured; 700 homes looted and destroyed, 600 businesses and shops looted, 2000 families left homeless. Later, it was discovered that the child had been murdered by its relatives and the suicide was unrelated to the Jews. 4
1905: The Okhrana, the Russian secret police in the reign of Czar Nicholas II, converted an earlier antisemitic novel into a document called the "Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion." 16 It was published privately in 1897. A Russian Orthodox priest, Sergius Nilus, published them publicly in 1905. It was promoted as the record of "secret rabbinical conferences whose aim was to subjugate and exterminate the Christians." 5 The Protocols were used by the Okhrana in a propaganda campaign that was associated with massacres of the Jews. These were the Czarist Pogroms of 1905.
1915: 600,000 Jews were forcibly moved from the western borders of Russia towards the interior. About 100,000 died of exposure or starvation.
1917: "In the civil war following the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, the reactionary White Armies made extensive use of the Protocols to incite widespread slaughters of Jews." 5 Two hundred thousand Jews were murdered in the Ukraine alone.

Discrimination against Jews in North America is widespread. Many universities set limits on the maximum number of Jewish students that they would accept. Harvard accepted all students on the basis of merit until after World War I when the percentage of Jewish students approached 15%. At that time they installed an informal quota system. In 1941, Princeton had fewer than 2% Jews in their student body. Jews were routinely barred from country clubs, prestigious neighborhoods, etc. 8

1933: Hitler took power in Germany. On APR-1, Julius Streicher organized a one-day boycott of all Jewish owned busienss in the country. Jews "were barred from civil service, legal professions and universities, were not allowed to teach in schools and could not be editors of newspapers." 2 Two years later, Jews were no longer considered citizens.
1934: Various laws were enacted in Germany to force Jews out of schools and professions.
1935: The Nazis passed the Nuremberg Laws restricting citizenship to those of "German or related blood." Jews became stateless.

1939: The Holocaust, the Shoah -- the systematic extermination of Jews in Germany -- begins. The process only ended in 1945 with the conclusion of World War II. Approximately 6 million Jews (1.5 million of them children), 400 thousand Roma (Gypsies) and others were slaughtered. Some were killed by death squads; others were slowly killed in trucks with carbon monoxide; others were gassed in large groups in Auschwitz, Dacau, Sobibor, Treblinka and other extermination camps. Officially, the holocaust was described by the Nazis as subjecting Jews "to special treatment" or as a "solution of the Jewish question." Gold taken from the teeth of the victims was recycled; hair was used in the manufacture of mattresses. In the Buchenwald extermination camp, lampshades were made out of human skin; however, this appears to be an isolated incident. A rumor spread that Jewish corpses were routinely converted into soap. However, the story appears to be false. 10
1940: The Vichy government of France collaborated with Nazi Germany by freezing about 80,000 Jewish bank accounts. During the next four years, they deported about 76,000 Jews to Nazi death camps; only about 2,500 survived. It was only in 1995 that a French president, Jacques Chirac, "was able to admit that the state bore a heavy share of responsibility in the mass round-ups and deportations of Jews, as well as in the property and asset seizures that were carried out with the active help of the Vichy regime." 11
1941: The Holocaust Museum in Washington DC estimates that 13,000 Jews died on 1941-JUN-19 during a pogrom in Bucharest, Romania. It was ordered by the pro-Nazi Romanian regime of Marshal Ion Antonescu. The current government has admitted that this atrocity happened, but most Romanians continue to deny that the Jews were killed on orders from their own government. 12
1941: Polish citizens in Jedwabne in northeastern Poland killed hundreds of Jews, by either beating them to death or burning them alive in a barn. According to the Associated Press: "The role played by Polish citizens was suppressed for nearly six decades until publication of a book by a Polish emigre historian, Jan Tomasz Gross. After release of the book in 2000, the Polish government launched an investigation. 'The role of the Poles was decisive in conducting the criminal act,' [prosecutor Radoslaw] Ignatiew, said. The book, 'Neighbours,' sparked national soul-searching among Poles, many of whom could not believe that anybody but the Nazis would have committed the atrocity." 13
1942: The Nazi leaders of Germany, at the Wannsee conference, decided on"the final solution of the Jewish question" which was the attempt to exterminate every Jew in Europe. From JUL-28 to 31, almost 18,000 Russian inhabitants of the Minsk ghetto in what is now Belarus were exterminated. This was in addition to 5,000 to 15,000 who had been massacred in earlier pogroms in that city. This was just one of many such pogroms during World War II. 14

Isaiah 54:1. So says tHashem, "Keep justice and practice righteousness, for My salvation is near to come, and My benevolence to be revealed."

2. Fortunate is the man who will do this and the person who will hold fast to it, he who keeps the Sabbath from profaning it and guards his hand from doing any evil.

3. Now let not the foreigner who joined HaShem, say, "HaShem will surely separate me from His people," and let not the eunuch say, "Behold, I am a dry tree."

You do not keep the Sabbath. You do not practice righteousness (the mitzvot). You do not keep the Sabbath. You are the foreigner who is a dry tree.
