Rav Boteach should stick to what he does best - chumming with movie/rock/stage stars (Michael Jackson, Modanna, and others) and writing books with provacative titles ("Kosher Sex" and others).
He does not have the skillset to participate in such a debate and EVER win. And his desire to be loved by the entire Christian comunity, which he works so hard at, would certainly preclde him from EVER going straight to the heart of the problem, which would be attacking Christian theology in general.
So he continues to participate in these events, showing the Christian community how right Dr. Brown is, so much so that Jews for Jesus openly markets these videos, seen as successes by them, which certainly should be seen as failures by us.
There is a reason why Chazal condemned such activities (they used to be forced to do so in Roman theaters, and only the most adept among them would be chosen to reluctantly participate). Who chose Rav Boteach to do this thing repeatedly for the past few years, failing miserably, while he has been trying to reinvent himself?
Himself.
Rab Boteach's need to be in the limelight harms us all, and until he is willing to look at what is best for the Jewish people versus what is best for himself, he will continue to be an embarassment.
Personally, it is my humble opinion that Rav Boteach does more harm than Michael Brown, because he validates Brown.
Just my two shekels.
